Tug’s in the Diner showing Bobby the friendship ring he’s bought for Sarah and he’s off to give it to her as Greg comes in with a stack of Flyers, advertising his mechanical skills, in hope of getting a job.

Luke pleads his case to Fisher to allow Bill to start school but Fisher’s adamant it won’t work and the two part on bad terms, when Luke walks out. He goes round to see Roxy at home and they talk about it and think Fisher’s being short-sighted over the matter. They have things to do and as they leave, Ailsa is thanking Sarah for baby sitting a sick Duncan, so she can go and get his medicine and drop in at the Diner with some clean tea towels. She passes Tug on her way out and he gives Sarah the ring, declaring his love for her and although she loves it, she’s a bit overawed by it. He wants her to take a walk along the beach but she tells him she can’t at the moment and arranges to meet him later and as he leaves, she seems confused. Ailsa stops off at the Diner to apologise to Bobby for leaving her in the lurch but she’s happy to stay on and Ailsa rushes off, passing a sombre Fisher, sitting at the counter, reflecting on what he said to Luke. Bobby tries to cheer him up by saying Luke won’t hold it against him for his comment about the school not running a crèche but Fisher thinks he could have handled it differently. When he goes over to Alf’s store, Luke and Bill are there and things get a bit awkward when Bill gets excited at the prospect of starting school soon but Alf is unaware of the problem. When Ailsa returns home, Sarah show her the ring and Ailsa reminisces when her first boyfriend gave her a friendship ring but she can’t remember his name now. Sarah confides in her that she thinks Tug’s getting too serious because she’s not sure whether their love will last forever, as he seems to think. Back in the Diner, Tug’s is ecstatic about the ring and Bobby has to calm him down, before he burst a blood vessel. Greg arrives as Tug goes to meet Sarah, to tell her the Flyers have got him his first job and he’s off to do it. They end up arguing about who will pick Sam up when he says he can’t but when he passes Fiona and her son on the road, he finds the time to stop and take them both home…He goes off to do the job butt returns to just have a chat and ends up fixing the hinge on her front door.

At the Diner, Fin and Luke accuse Fisher of being small-minded for refusing to let Bill start school but Bobby defends her dad’s decision before leaving to go and pick up Sam. Fin then tells Luke that since getting to know Bill, she thinks differently now about his disability and going to school would benefit everyone and Luke thinks she’s made an excellent point. Luke goes round to Fisher’s to have another try at changing his mind but when Fisher is adamant about his decision, Luke refuses to leave until he listens to what he has to say. He uses Fin’s example of how she’s learnt to deal with Bill’s disability and thinks it will work at Summer Bay High, providing they can overcome the prejudices. That proved to be the turning point and Fisher says Bill can enrol but he will be under strict observation. At the first sigh of any problems, the decision will be reversed but Luke’s confident that nothing will go wrong.

As Sarah’s about to go and meet Tug, Ailsa’s worried about her and advises she should tell Tug what she wants out of their relationship. She meets him on the beach and nearly freaks out when he starts on about having kids. They sit down and she tells him she doesn’t want to think about the future and what might happen, she wants them to just enjoy one another’s company and enjoy life without getting too serious because there’s plenty of time for that, later on. He’s seems bewildered but she assures him she doesn’t want to break up and they hug. He walks her home before going starting his stint at Alf’s store and she goes in and tells Ailsa everything went well.

Back at the Diner, Luke has told Fin and Bill the good news and Bill gets very excited about it. Bobby overhears it and is pleased the problem’s been resolved but she has problems of her own. She confides to Fin she feels bad about her argument with Greg and plans to make him a special meal.

Meanwhile, Greg has fixed the front door and Fiona invites him to have a beer with her, as her way of thanking him for all he’s done for her…
