At the Diner, Ailsa worries about what’s happened to Chloe but when she tries ringing and finds the phone engaged, she assumes she must be talking to Irene. In fact, Chloe is in a state, sitting on the living room floor, in tears, staring at all those animal traps. Later on, Ailsa worries what has happened to Chloe and leaves Alf to lock up while she drives over to find out.
At the Fisher home, he’s checked up on his rights as a landlord and found out that everything Casey told him, is correct. Marilyn thinks it’s a chance for him and Casey to resolve their differences. Casey returns home with Aaron but doesn’t invite him in because of the atmosphere. When he tells her he can’t understand why she stays there, she retorts, it’s because she’s going to make Fisher’s life hell.
Ailsa arrives at the beach house and finds Chloe in a state of shock and takes her over to Lachie place, and while he looks after her, she calls the police. Lachie gives her something to calm her down and Ailsa tells him that Alf and Joey are back at the house, waiting for the police. When Ailsa says Chloe and Joey can’t be left alone in the house, Lachie agrees to stay with them. Chloe admits she’s scared and that it’s like a bad dream. They take her home and Alf tells them Joey’s gone to bed and he’s very upset about what has happened. Alf tells them that the police are going to keep an eye on the place but at the moment they haven’t got much to go on. Alf and Ailsa leave and Chloe goes off to bed, leaving Lachie to settle down for the night, on the couch.
Casey starts her campaign to get back at Fisher. First she hides some of his CD’s and then tampers with the kitchen light, making it look as if it’s fused. Consequently, when he gets up during the night for a glass of water, he’s not happy to find the light won’t work. Next morning, he changes the bulb, yet again, and Casey is smirking in the background, listening in on his conversation with Marilyn about him falling apart.
Lachie wakes up and finds Chloe sitting there and she tells him she got up early because she couldn’t sleep. When she says she won’t be going to school, he agrees to keep her company, as he’s go the morning off and they end up talking about Shannon. Later on, Karen Williams arrives and introduces herself as a police psychologist, who has stopped on the off chance of a chat with Chloe. Lachie goes off to work when Chloe agrees to talk to the woman.
At the Diner, Travis and Rebecca order breakfast and Fisher is sitting at the counter, in a depressed mood. He confides in Ailsa that he’s unable to talk to Marilyn about his problems and wonders if he’s going through a mid-life crisis. He decides she may be right and that he needs to take profession advice and later, at school, he asks Rebecca to cover one of his classes because he has something to do. When he goes off to see a counsellor, he changes his mind and returns to the Diner. He thanks Ailsa for her support that morning and now knows what he has to do and hopes he can find the courage to carry it out.
The talk between Chloe and Karen appears to be going well until Karen almost accuses Chloe of being responsible for what Brad did.
Back at Fisher’s, Casey if tampering with the kitchen light again, as Fisher and Marilyn come home. She listens in on their conversation and smirks when she realises her campaign is working. He tells Marilyn that he’s going to retire at the end of term and take stock of his life. Marilyn gets in a panic because she’s thinks something is wrong with him but he assures her he’s doing it for her and their baby.
Irene returns home and is shocked at the state Chloe is in and can’t believe what Karen said to her. The phone rings and when Chloe answers it, a recording of her interview with Karen is played back to her. Later on, at the Diner, the police ring to tell her they’ve never heard of Karen and Lachie feels bad because he let the woman in. Casey is boasting to Aaron about how well her campaign is going and he’s shocked, when she tells him he’s going to retire. Then she laughs when she says Fisher’s probably about to find out the light in the kitchen is working again and wishes she could be there, to see his face. Unknown to her, Fisher and Marilyn decide to go out to dinner because he’s had enough of Casey, leaving Rebecca alone. Rebecca goes into the kitchen and finds the light isn’t working.
It ends when Rebecca goes to replace the bulb, falls from the stool, sending the pots and pans flying, leaving her lying, unconscious…
