It starts off where the last episode finished, with Selina and Travis discussing Jesse’s frame of mind. As Selina comments that losing access to Rachel is the last thing he’d want, Travis suggests they try and find him before the authorities get involved but Selina says she wouldn’t have a clue where to start. The decide to start by checking out the bus routes but as they drive off to check them out, they realise one of them has already left for Melbourne. They get to the bus station and Selina goes on board to see if Jesse’s on it, but he’s not. They find out the bus to Melbourne only left ten minutes ago, so they try and catch up with it.

Constable Terri Garner comes to talk to Chloe at the beach house and tells her they are checking all Brad’s recent contacts and will need her to come down the police station and look at some photos from security cameras, to see if she recognises anyone. Lachie thinks Brad wouldn’t have been so stupid to get this woman caught on camera because he’s clever but Terri points out, even clever people make mistakes. She tells them that she’s spoken to a real psychologist and he seems to think that Brad and Karen will ease off for a while because he achieved his objective – to make Chloe realise that he can get to her even though he’s in prison. Lachie’s not happy about this and when he asks for police protection, Terri says this is impossible because they don’t have the man-power and besides Brad in now under 24hr surveillance. This still doesn’t satisfied him and when he comments that Brad could have planned this campaign in advance, Terri has no answer. As she leaves, she tells Chloe to get in touch with the police if anything happens and in the meantime, lock all the doors and windows. Irene tells her she needn’t worry on that score because no-one’s getting in, unless they’ve got a bull-dozer. She locks the door after Terri leaves and turns to Lachie and tells him she doesn’t think Terri’s happy with him but he says he had to say it and Chloe agrees. She thanks him for his support and kisses him on the cheek.

Lachie goes to work and his first patient in Rebecca and she’s frustrated that it’s been two days and she’s still hasn’t got her hearing back. He writes down she was told it could take time and to stop worrying. He writes down that she’s going home and she says as soon as Fisher gets here. But Fisher is delayed because the electrician is checking out the ‘faulty’ light in the kitchen. A sheepish Casey hangs around and when Trevor tells him there’s nothing wrong, he can’t believe it. And he’s not happy to find to be charged fifty dollars. As usual Marilyn tries to calm him down with a cup of tea but he’s in no mood to drink it. They pick up Rebecca and bring her back home and they have to get used to write everything down for her. She wants to know where Travis is and Fisher says if he turns up at the hospital, they will tell him she’s at home. Casey makes an appearance, looking miserable and guilty and for a moment the only cheerful one around, is Rebecca, but she then gets upset and goes to her room. She comes down later and is at a loss as to what to do. When she puts a CD on and turns the volume up, Marilyn comes in and tells her it’s too loud and jokes about her blowing up the speakers. She then starts to play the piano but when she can’t hear the notes, she gets frustrated and runs out, leaving Marilyn concerned. She goes for a walk by the beach and everything is silent to her. A man taps her on the shoulder and when she turns around, she tries to lip read but can’t and just shakes her head at him. He walks back to his friends, shrugging his shoulders. She takes off and runs along the water’s edge to the rock, where she stops and just screams and screams.

Lachie and Chloe go down to the Surf Club and whilst Chloe goes to get them a drink, Lachie chats up Terri, who’s off-duty and has been doing some exercise. He tries to apologise for earlier but she’s not in a forgiving mood and tells him to butt out. She walks away and he’s annoyed at her attitude. He goes for a walk with Chloe and when they return, she’s in a happy mood. When Lachie suggests a game of pool, she takes up his challenge, but she’s unaware that’s she’s being spied on, by a woman. Their game is interrupted, when Lachie gets bleeped to return to the hospital and she goes home, meeting Irene on the way, whose just returned with a pizza. Inside, Selina is looking very dejected and tells them about Jesse and Rachel and Irene can’t believe he could do such a stupid thing. As Irene gets the food ready, Chloe goes to put on a video but find another one with a label on it, saying “play me”. Irene and Selina know nothing about it, so she puts it on. She and Irene sit down and watch it and at first, Irene thinks it’s one of Joey’s joke but the last scene is in her bedroom, where she is asleep. She rings for the cavalry – the police.

Travis and Selina catch up with the Melbourne bus and manage to flag it down. The driver comes out and while Travis tells him what’s happening, Selina goes on board and sure enough, Jesse and Rachel are there. She pleads with him to come back with them because Kylie will make trouble for him and he risks never seeing Rachel again. The other passengers are getting annoyed that their journey has been disrupted and the driver comes in, to tell Selina she must get off.

Travis goes to see Rebecca, who has returned home and he tells her, via the notepad, about Jesse doing a runner with Rachel and refused to come back with them. He asks how she is and she tells him that everyone and everything is different but she discovered this afternoon that she can see and feel things and is confident she will get her hearing back. They hug each other.

Travis returns home and as he practices sign language for Rebecca, Jesse and Rachel come in. Rachel is fast asleep, so he puts her to bed.

Early next morning, there’s pandemonium at the beach house because someone’s banging furiously on the kitchen door. Selina rushes to answer it and is sent flying when she open it. It’s Karen and she’s gone berserk and is looking for Chloe. Irene tries to stop her but when she sees Chloe, she attacks her, knocking her to the ground and tries to strangle her. Selina and Irene tackle her and manage to get her off Chloe but they get winded in the process before Karen makes her escape. Irene tries to make light of the situation by saying she’s well and truly awake!

Marilyn’s in a lather because she can’t find her eye-liner and Fisher, who obviously isn’t listening, says she can borrow his! Travis comes over and gives Rebecca a sign language book but when she shows it to Casey, she annoyed with him and they can’t understand why.

At the police station, Terri gets a call from the beach house about the attack and instruct that all the doors and windows be locked and she’ll be there, straight away. As she’s about to leave, Karen comes in and when she complains about Brad being attacked and blames Chloe for it, Terri realises who she is. At the beach house, Irene, Chloe and Selina have armed themselves with the biggest kitchen utensils they can find in case they have to do battle again before the police arrive.. When there is a knock at the door, they get into position, but it’s only Jesse. They let him in pretty smart and tell him what’s been going on. He had hoped to go for a walk with Selina but under the circumstances, this is not the best time. They go to her room, to talk. He tells her he really hated her for what she did to him but now he wants to put that all behind him. She apologise to him and they hug and for a moment, he thinks this might be the start of getting back together again but he pulls himself away, when he realises it will never happen. He thanks her for going after him the previous day and admits her wasn’t thinking clearly.

It ends with him telling her he doesn’t want to hate her anymore and then he leaves. She looks baffled and confused…
