At the Diner, Lachie and Chloe talk about how crazy Karen must be because she wants Chloe charged with assault, on her! But as Lachie points out, the police have got her now but their conversation is interrupted by the arrival of Constable Terri Garner and she wants to know if Chloe had anything to do with the bashing Brad got. When asked if she rang her Dad in prison the previous day, Chloe confirms she did but goes on to say, that if her Dad had wanted revenge, he would have done before now. Terri’s not convinced and warns her about the consequences of people taking the law into their own hands, whatever the circumstances. When Lachie tries to make light of the situation, Terri turns to him and says it’s the law, and she, takes it seriously. She gets up and leaves. Lachie catches Terri before she’s about to get in her car and has a go at her for insinuating Chloe had something to do with Brad’s attack. He leaves her in no mind, as to what he thinks of her and reminds her that Chloe still thinks of her as a friend, which he finds hard to believe.
At the Ross house, Irene is telling Pippa and Tiegan about the attack. When Tiegan ask what did Joey do, Irene laughs and says he slept right through it. Their conversation is interrupted by the arrival of a man, who has a reservation. He tells Pippa his name is Ian Routledge and as he signs in, Irene makes small talk with him. He leaves, after being given the key and directions to the caravan by Pippa. Irene is quite taken by him but Pippa hasn’t even noticed. A short while later, Irene’s gone but Joey’s come over and is talking to Tiegan and Justine. Ian comes in to tell Pippa that there are no towels in the van and he spots her array of photos on the mantelpiece. She tells him that some are hers but most of them are from the fostering program. Tiegan embarrasses Pippa, when she interrupts to ask Mr Routledge if his wife will be joining him. Pippa tells her not to be so personal, then apologies to him and he says he’ll be back later to pick the towels up. She reprimands Tiegan, who comments she noticed he had a mark on his finger where there had obviously been a wedding ring. Pippa decides they’d all be better off outside, instead of cooped up inside, in front of the telly and orders them out!
At the Surf Club, Steven and Selina are talking about their future. He tells her this is a good time to buy property because of low interest rates, which surprises her because she thought they would live in his flat. He points out, it’s a great flat for one person and that’s why he’s decided to rent it out instead of selling it because it will be a good investment for them. She reminds him they have their wedding to sort out and as they continue to talk, Alf comes over, after listening in on their conversation and puts his point of view over. He advises caution because money isn’t everything but Steven says things are different in the city. His only comment to that is to tell them he’s knew of a bloke who felt the same way as Steven does now but he’s six foot under, in the local graveyard! As they get back to the beach house, Selina says Alf’s just jealous and Steven wonders what Alf would think of their honeymoon in Bali! It sends a shiver down Selina’s back at the thought of flying and wonders if they can go by boat. Inside, Joey is showing Tiegan how to use a chat line on the Internet but she finds it boring. Joey goes to answer a knock at the door and it’s Terri, out of uniform, looking for Chloe. He calls out for her and when she comes down, she’s knocked out by Terri’s stunning outfit. Terri tells her that Karen is going to be assessed and they’re keeping a close eye on Brad so doubts she should have anymore problems with either of them. Chloe’s relieved but when she asks if she would like to stay for coffee, Terri says she can’t and leaves. But outside, she hears Joey making a remark about someone forgetting to use a deodorant and they all laugh abut it. She feels they are laughing at her and she looks sad. Chloe, Joey and Justine head off to the Diner, discussing the change in Terri and come to the conclusion, she feels more comfortable in uniform, rather than out of it. Terri heads off to the hospital to see how a patient, who she helped rescue from her home is, after breaking her hip. Selina, back on duty, is impressed with her dedication to her job and then Lachie comes along. He jokes with her about the ice-cream she brought in and after apologising for his remarks earlier on, they start chatting. But it’s not long before they fall out over his completely innocence remark about a policewoman’s job. He has a go at her and as he leaves, tells her he’s off to ‘sexually harass’ some nurses. She just stands there.
Back at the caravan site, Pippa takes the towels over to Ian’s van and she finds herself noticing the mark on his wedding finger but of course, she doesn’t say anything. When he asks about somewhere to eat, she recommends the Diner and goes on to say if he’s interested in a spot of fishing, the proprietor runs the local Bait Shop as well. He thanks her, but says he’s down here on business and goes on to tell her about his job – running bush survival courses for corporate fat cats. When he says he should be staying at the Sands Resort, he inadvertently says puts his foot in it, by saying he preferred the caravan site because it’s down market! Pippa half heartedly laughs and says thanks and he realises what he’s just said and they both end up laughing over it.
Back at the Ross house, Steven’s working on his laptop as Pippa talks about the wedding arrangements and how Irene’s eager to get it sorted out. The fax machine comes to life and when Pippa tells him it’s for him, from a Gillian, he jumps up and says it must be from the office and waits for the message to finish, before removing it. He appears to be a little agitated over it. Later on, Tiegan and Justine come in and when Tiegan suggests Pippa should ask Ian out, Pippa thinks they’ve too much time on their hand and orders them out to clean some of the van. They protest but she ushers them out, much to Steven’s relief. Once on his own, he goes over to the fax machine and makes a call but it’s only an answer phone. As he leaves his message to Gillian, wanting to know what the hell is going on, he is unaware that Pippa has returned and heard him. She goes back outside and tells the girls what to do and when she sees Steven leaving, she calls to him and tells him what she heard. He just says it’s a business thing and he’ll be back later, then he leaves. Tiegan’s on a mission to get Pippa and Ian together and every time an opportunity arises, she takes it but it falls on deaf ears. When Ian comes in to speak to Pippa about his mail, she starts again but this time, Joey, who’s come back, grabs her and drags her off. Justine and Christopher start arguing over the telly, so Pippa tells them to switch if off and go and do their homework upstairs. He’s impressed with the way she handles the kids and they get talking about his wife. He tells her she’s an artist but she died five years ago and that he only took his wedding ring off about a month ago. She tells him about Michael dying eighteen months ago and they agree it’s a hard thing to try to get over. She invites him to join them for an evening meal and he says it’s a long time since he’s had a home cooked dinner, so he accepts.
Over at the Diner, Alf is telling Ailsa about his ‘conversation’ earlier on with Steven, when Ian comes over to pay his bill and compliments Ailsa on the food. When he realises it’s Alf, he introduces himself to him and says Pippa said he’s the man to talk to, about the area. Ian tells him what he’s after and Alf says all the maps and things are at the Surf Club. As they leave, Alf asks if Pippa’s looking after him and when he says she is and she’s a very nice lady, Alf agrees and goes on to sing her praises. Lachie comes rushing in and apologises to Chloe for being late and she tells him about Karen. When she says Terri reckons there shouldn’t be anymore problems, Lachie comments that the good constable is as nutty as the one they’ve locked up! Lachie goes off to get some groceries and Chloe is about to leave when Terri arrives. She asks Terri if she would like a cup of coffee, which she accepts, so they go and order them. Terri tells Chloe that she comes from a family of cops but she broke the golden rule when she turned in one of her own and has had hassle, ever since. Chloe then goes over to see Lachie at home, to talk to him about Terri and he pulls a face. Later on, he bumps into Terri and ends up inviting her out, which she accepts.
Steven and Selina are walking by the beach, talking about the wedding preparations and somehow the conversation turns to what Alf said earlier on, about money being the root of all evil. Steven agrees they should help Irene with the expense and admits he enjoys his job and the luxuries it brings. Selina agrees. They go back to the Ross house where Ian’s helping out in the kitchen.
It ends when there’s a knock at the door and when Selina goes to answer it, a stunning woman asks to speak to Steven!!!
