Vinnie is worried about receiving his test results and Sally says she will go with Vinnie. However Vinnie refuses saying he would prefer to go alone. If it is bad news he needs time to reflect about it by himself. James gives Vinnie the news that the tumour was malignant and that it was stage one cancer. He will need radiotherapy to make 100% sure all the cancer is gone. Vinnie is concerned but James tells him that the decision is up to Vinnie. Vinnie talks it over with Sally later and says he will look into alternative therapies. Sally is upset at this and leaves the room. Alf tells Marilyn about Jesse and Nat. Ailsa tells Alf off for gossiping but Alf does as he says the parties involved are not trying to keep it secret. Alf snubs Jesse when Jesse comes into the Diner. Marilyn later tells James and most of Summer Bay about the Jesse and Nat. Marilyn later seeing Gypsy and Jesse in the dinner attempts to warn Gypsy about gossip. Gypsy has not got a clue what Marilyn is talking about. Donald shows John the replacement General Studies teacher around the school and introduces him to Sam and Haley. John is an Aborigine, and Hayley makes a remark to Sam later about the ‘Abo'. Sam is shocked and says that Hayley is a racist. Hayley says she is not a racist saying that ‘Abo' is just a phrase as ‘Poem' is. Irene has afternoon tea with John at the Diner and discovers that John grew up in a town where Irene lived with her ex-husband for two years. When Irene asks where John lived she is embarrassed to find that John lived in an orphanage. Travis comforts Rebecca who still feels bad about Justine. Rebecca is feeling stressed and because she has no classes takes the afternoon off. Travis and Rebecca have a romantic picnic on the beach; they say to each other they can't remember the last time they did this. They talk to each other about leaving a note pretending to have gone out and continuing to be alone in peace and quiet in their bedroom.
