Adam Cameron

Adam is the only son of Ian and Bridget Cameron who are both deceased. He is an intelligent and good-natured guy with a dry sense of humour and few are not charmed by his wit and power of persuasion. He is physically very fit, and although not a fanatic, loves engaging in sport.

As well as a bit of an athlete, Adam is intelligent too, but half-way through a Dip Ed course, his father died. As his mother had died some two years earlier, he inherited the estate which consisted of a modest house and a small amount of life insurance money. Much against the advice of other relatives. Adam decided to sell the house and use the money to buy a yacht to live on.

Adam came to Summer Bay while on his way north to the Barrier Reef, where he planned to run charter trips on his yacht, but unexpected damage leaves him stranded.

He eventually repairs the yacht and sets up a charter business but he falls victim to a gang of contraband smugglers. who leave him stranded on an island after scuttling his boat. With no insurance money forthcoming, he had to find a way to support himself.

He did this by settling in Summer Bay and taking on a part-time job at the Surf Club and any other odd job that comes his way. But despite his lack of money, his charm and wit made him a hit with the local girls.

He had been involved in a few scams which never succeeded. The problem with Adam is that you can never know what he is thinking; he is very strong-minded, especially when he feels that justice is not being done.

As his parents died when he was young, it may be his suffering that made him empathise with other people. He knows what it's like to be down and he had become a pretty resilient character over the years. He tries to become independent and set up his business; unfortunately, he was ripped off and so his entrepreneurial spirit was dampened.

Despite all the bad things that happened to him in the past he refuses to let anything get him down and so is resolutely cheerful.

His house was burned down while Sam was there. Adam saved him, but lost everything he had there. He decided to leave the

MAT STEVENSON

Mat began his acting studies at the Haileybury College in Melbourne before moving to Sydney. He took part in many theatre productions before he auditioned for his first television role, playing Mark Wheeler in ABC TV's "Breaking Up". He was then Kevin Connor in the mini-series  My Brother Tom and Skinner in Neighbours.

In 1989, he landed the role of Adam Cameron in Home and Away.

"Home and Away has been a great experience for me both personally and professionally", he said, "like all programmes of that genre, it teaches dedication and disclipine. It also gives me a platform from which I hope to land more roles, both in TV and theatre."

Mat is an Aries, is 5'11" tall and has brown eyes. He was born on 15 April 1969.

After finishing Home and Away in 1994, he appeared in Blue Heelers. Mat travelled from Sydney to Melbourne for the part. He also cleaned swimming pools to make ends meet.
