Due to the ongoing pressures of Home and Away.org and the falling number of contributions, and increasing number of requests, the team at Home and Away.org needs extra volunteers. Failing that, there may be no choice but to discontinue the site sometime next year. Please give us a few hours a week - see below what you can do and contact us through this form

Due to demand and pressures of this site from the high volume of information, Home and Away.org is recruiting volunteers to help with this site. If you are interested in helping with Home and Away.org, please contact us through this form with the job title you are applying for in the comments box.

Required immediately - Episode Summariser

No experience is necessary. Summaries of episodes broadcast in Australia are typed and then emailed daily or weekly.

Reporter/Correspondent (3 or more in ANY country) *

At least one for each country including the following countries: Belgium, Norway, Sweden, Ireland, UK, Australia, Canada, New Zealand etc
This involves reporting news and spoilers of Home and Away around the world, even outside these three countries. Articles, spoilers etc would be created, ready to be put on the site and are then emailed immediately. Reporters and correspondents may pass some information through Home and Away.org group.

Site contributors (unlimited) *

No experience necessary - contributions of any sort such as facts, favourite moments, or anything you think this site needs, should be sent via email as attached files - the files could be written in Notepad or Word or photos sent as JPG files. Please contact first before you email your contributions

Character and star profiler (2 or more) *

This would involve writing profiles on characters and actors and actresses. At least one person is to deal with those on current episodes and should be based in Australia. The others would deal with those in old episodes.

Summariser (2 or more) *

This involves writing summaries of episodes currently missing on the site.

Photograph Compiler (unlimited)

This would involve gathering and scanning photos and altering them (jazzing them up). Taking images from episodes may also be considered.

Goodies Compiler (unlimited)

This would involve producing stuff such as screensavers, desktop backgrounds etc.

Information gatherers (unlimited)

This involves gathering information on any topic apart from those mentioned above. Examples may be 'Did you know' stuff, quotes, etc - whatever you think is needed on the site.

Video clips editor (3 or more)

person based in each of the following countries: Republic of Ireland or Northern Ireland, Australia and Britain
This involves capturing clips and/or still images. In order to have the site accessible to the deaf/hearing impaired, most of the video clips and perhaps stills should have subtitles.
The person based in Ireland would not need to create subtitles using my tapes. Those who have VCRs that record subtitles need not create subtitles. For old episodes, subtitles may need to be recorded.

Database administrator (1)

This person would be responsible for updating and creating a database for the site to gather information from.

Site administrator (1-2)

One person based in Republic of Ireland
This person would deal with information gathered from other persons and proofread them. Changes may be necessary and the page is then made ready before putting on the site. Pages would be fixed up for photos and categories may be created for each page. Minimum time to spend on this site would be 10 hours a week approx.

Promoter (1)

Need to 'advertise' this site by way of registering this site via newsletters, search engines and other means of publications. If you can generate money by inserting ads/banners on this site for other companies, a wage will be considered.

Assistant Website manager (2)

One based in Ireland
This would involve the management of this site: updating, maintaining and liaising with other team members globally. Submissions received would require inputting and ways to improve the site, by way of new stuff, etc. would also be required. It may take a minimum of 10 hours a week

Website and graphic designer (1)

This would involve creating templates and designing the site. Work would involve creating, updating and fixing the templates to adapt to future changes. Experience with Dreamweaver and Fireworks an advantage, and experience with Flash is also an advantage though not necessary.

No experience necessary, as long as you know how to surf the internet and find news etc
Any news about Home and Away to be emailed to me

Site administrator

Experience with Dreamweaver not necessary but desirable
Java and HTML languages not necessary but desirable
Minimum time to spend on this site would be 10 hours a week approx
Unfortunately, this site does not generate money, so there is no salary, hence the position is voluntary. However, if you can generate money for this site by way of genuine advertisements that DO bring in money and any other methods, then a salary or a wage may be decided.
