Alf thought Jesse and Natalie were having an affair and spreads the rumour. Imagine his embarrassment when he realises Jesse is going out with Gypsy!

Alf tells Ailsa she saw Judith leave Fisher's house in he dawn and concludes they are having an affair. He goes to Fisher and asks him. Fisher tells him that they had a great time and Alf thought he was talking about sex sessions, especially when he says they were "hard at it"! Alf discovers that he was wrong!

Marilyn gives birth to baby Byron. After his birth, she disappears. Fisher searches for her, but does not find her. Months later, she turns up on the doorstep, but he is not there. The housekeeper, Ellen, is bound to secrecy, but she does not keep it. After a long while, Marilyn and Fisher are back together. 

Byron is diagnosed with cancer, causing Marilyn and Fisher to worry. She decides to take him to the States for best possible care. He disagrees, but later changes his mind. Numerous tests later, nothing seems to work, and Byron has caught infection, and consequently dies
