good point here; we are getting quite more spoilers now that we are falling behind Oz and I am starting to miss the programme! It was not long ago when ITV were behind us by six months and I could watch some episodes again on ITV; it was not the same watching the same episode the week after because it is fresh in your mind! The break gives us time to catch up on other things........and also to think what may happen.........!!!!

NO NO NO, they are not killing Home and Away, are they? if they are changing it completely and giving it a makeover, they may as well finish Home and Away and make another programme..... why does everything have to depend on money and ratings? they should put us fans and viewers first rather than advertisers who pay large bucks for ads during commercial breaks during the soap.... have u noticed the storylines change a lot often? in the early years, we had Carly's drink problem twice for months, Blake and Meg, Bobby tracing her parents.......and so on..........Look how long Nick was a bad boy........just 3 weeks, was it???? you cannot change a bad kid into a goody-two-shoes this quick.....it takes months or years, to be accurate.............give us good storylines that last for MONTHS, not days or weeks.........or you would run out of storylines quickly..........

I heard that some press members were visiting a set at channel 7 studios that Ray Meagher was part of (so they assumed that it was Home and Away) in which 4 people were involved in a fire and died. They couldn't see who the other 3 people were, they just assumed it was H&A because of Ray, when actually it was another project he was working on. anyone else hear something like this?

I think that rumour might have started when I published what I believed was the 2000 cliffhanger. I was given the info in good faith, but it turned out to be *incorrect*. The storyline was dropped because it was too like the 1999 Neighbours cliffhanger. I also think someone on this group might have said coincidentally about a Surf Club fire for an April Fool. Unless there are rumours from another source about a Surf Club fire, I think it's probably true to say it's not going to happen.

I read a rumour on a Neighbours website that Jonathan Dutton, who plays Wayne "Tadpole" Reeves has been offered a contract on Home And Away. How accurate this information is I can't verify because it is only currently a rumour. Is this supposed fire still going to happen at the Surf club? Nobody seems to know for sure.

So far it's looking like ITV are trying to enforce the 13 month ban on Home and Away, which would prevent C5 from screening it until July 2001! It was reported in the press last week that C5 have gone to the Office of Fair Trading (OFT). Unhappy that ITV are trying to spoil their acquisition of Home and Away, C5 are quite rightly claiming that ITV is abusing its dominant position, and expects to hear if the OFT will intervene soon. By now most people should have e-mailed ITV to request that they don't enforce the long break. If anyone hasn't yet, ITV's e-mail address to direct complaints to is info@itv.co.uk Although ITV are currently only issuing a standard response, it's important that they receive as many complaints as possible! The next step is to support Channel 5 by sending an e-mail directly to the Office of Fair Trading. Good points to make are that it is in the viewers' best interests not to have to wait a long time to see HandA again, ITV ARE abusing their dominant position by enforcing the break, and anything else you can think of that will help!

Wednesday, Thursday and Friday's episodes were the best HandA episodes I've seen in ages. Carly probably only hinted marriage problems because everyone does and she had to say something. For the person that said Floss acted a bit strange, ??? I thought she was great! Steven left Selina there because she is scared of flying and didn't see any need. I'm pretty sure Martin stays on for a while (and Lance I think). I hope what Frank said to Pippa (that he'd like to come back to Summer Bay) is true and he should. They haven't got anyone around his age on the show. Lance might stay. @ the end of Friday's episode, it seemed as if it was the end of Home and Away and it maize well have been. I agree - HandA will never be the same without Pippa's HOUSE looking the way it did. You're right. We'll just have to think of it as a new show from the creators of HandA. I can't see the Sutherland's staying for a while so maybe they'll gradually leave and by that time, someone like Sally can buy the house back off them. "Whenever the producers introduce new characters, they should make them sign a 5 or 6 year contract to prevent them from getting stuck-up and thinking they can make it big in Hollywood." I have phoned up Channel 7 12 times and Prime Television 7 times about 'The Early Years' since they took it off. It is possible that if Channel 7 put it back on, Prime won't (they'll have Home Shopping) (I live in Maryborough, Victoria [between Ballarat and Bendigo]) I've e-mailed them over 100 times under different names and addresses and I've posted a couple of hand-written letters. They replied to me heaps about the e-mails and "...they still don't know..." if they'll put it back on after the Olympics. "...we have heaps of shows to fit in. we could have 5 channels with all the stuff we'd like to air..." or something like that they say every time. About Judy Nunn leaving, I phoned Channel 7 (and got put through to HandA) and they said "...we aren't allowed to say..." I kept pushing it and they still wouldn't give out any information. Then the next day I rang them up again and asked if David Woodley (Joel) is leaving (I knew he wasn't) and they said something like "...where did you hear that from?..." or "...not to my knowledge..." so Judy is probably leaving

'Home And Away' star JUDY NUNN undergoes emergency operation

So peaceful and self-assured as 'HandA' actress Judy Nunn normally walks over the screen, so nervous and afraid she was during her short vacation in the Australian Darwin. Terrible stabs of pain in her abdomen forced her to go to hospital.
Judy Nunn who plays the role from Ailsa in HandA was at the beginning off the new season from Home And Away the greatest absentee. In stead of returning to the set after her vacation, she had to stay solitary in a hospital room in Sydney. There she recovers from a major operation where a big tumour was been removed from her abdomen
Emergency
The actress had imagined her vacation in the woody Darwin a bit else. Judy, who is famous in Australia with her moving books, stayed with her husband Bruce a few days in an isolated hut for working on a new story. 'Without any reason I felt some heavy pain in my abdomen', reviews Judy. Bruce brought her in panic to the local hospital where they discovered the tumour. On advice from the involved doctors she was taken as soon as possible to Sydney, where the tumour has been removed during an emergency operation. Lucky it was a good-natured tumour, witch had the size of a melon.

any of u seen the new Smirnoff ad on TV? Michael Piccirilli, who played James Fraser, is in this ad watch it on ITV and Channel Four

Some information for UK viewers: excerpt from Times 2 media diary "Channel 5 is not happy about ITV's efforts to spoil its acquisition of Aussie soap Home and Away. ITV broadcast its last episode of the soap on June 8, but claims its contract allows it to hold on to the programme rights for another year before C5 can start broadcasting. C5 has been to the Office of Fair Trading (OFT) to plead its case that ITV is abusing its dominant position and expects to hear soon if the OFT will intervene." may is suggest that disgruntled viewers e mail ITV, C5 and the OFT - try the UK government web site - and say that ITV's behaviour is anti competitive according to EC law. will aussie viewers please provide daily episode guide for episodes from June 8 onwards? thanks. also Granada, htv and central all said that June 8 was last episode in current series....

I have to agree with Jodie, too. I don't think the situation with the show is that bad. In recent times I've found the show more entertaining than it has been for the last few years and this week's episodes have been really good, so hopefully it'll keep getting better and the fostering theme won't be completely phased out.

I vaguely remember reading an old article about a Kim Patterson who was Grant Mitchell's sister and a druggie (any relation to Allison and Vinnie?). Who the flip-flops is Pippa's daughter (the earache excuse mentioned earlier) don't you mean her SON Christopher. Does Ian come back with Pippa? Selina might be in another country (working as an air hostess remember). Why is everyone sounding the death knells for HandA? Why did the Nash family keep the photo's on the mantelpiece, they didn't know anybody from them anyway? I was so sure Sally would be the new foster mother (alas I was apparently wrong), but might the Sutherlands be (or become) a foster family? How many children did Pippa have (and in what order), I would guess about 20 fostered and 2 natural (Dale and Chris). Which film was Matt Doran in? I was trying to convince my none-handa-viewing friends that HandA stars were well known but they'd only heard of Dannii Minogue and Craig McLachlan. I was trying to tell them that Matt Doran was a famous movie star but couldn't for the life of me remember the title of the film. I remember the Shane/Angel special because British viewers saw it every Bank Holiday/Christmas/Easter and other various holidays until Angel finally left. I think ITV showed it as a way of slowing the 'catching up with Australia' problem without upsetting viewers by stopping all together. Incidentally where is Angel? We saw Simon earlier this year (Why didn't Don recognize him?) but no Angel. I saw a few reports about HandA stopping in the UK in newspapers and online (BBC News Online) and they all blamed Network 7 for choosing Channel 5 over ITV and for controlling the contracts and clauses. In the British media, Network 7 is being made out to be the baddie.

Funny, speaking of complaining about the Early Years being taken off, I just received this email from Prime TV. If anyone else gets Prime rather than Seven, please consider emailing them to ask about the Early Years too, it might help, and I'm sure Prime would be easier to convince than Seven as a whole.

From Prime TV

When this happened, did everyone just write emails, or did some of you get around to writing an actual letter? Because I wrote to Channel 7 Programming, and they wrote back after a week or so and basically said that they understand my frustration at the incompletion of the series, but unfortunately due to various new programming commitments they had to make the "difficult decision" not to continue the series. It really didn't tell me much at all, but oh well, I tried. I wonder if more people wrote letters to them they would reconsider the decision sometime in the future?

No unfortunately not, Carly admits they are having some problem, I'm the same as Jodie I still wondering why they mentioned it, so I'm hopeful she may come back, of course the could have just been saying something about every character they could so viewers kinda found out about them. and remembered them. And I thought it was great that Gypsy stood up and told Sally not the go though with this and Hayley and Colleen backed her up. Though it would have been good if Gypsy when to see Sally so that Sally could see they were both thinking the same thing about Gypsy saying something earlier, then maybe Sally would understand, but how do you tell someone that the person they are about to marry is a sleez and have them believe you.

Vinnie overhears Martin talking about his car tuning business and remembers hearing or reading about him somewhere. He introduces himself to Martin and Martin recognises Vinnie as "Alison's cousin, the pesky little kid who used to follow us around everywhere."

ok, here's what I think about what's been going on in the bay, first of all, it's unfair that the house has been sold to a whole new family, Pippa and every 1 belong there, seeing them back in the house just seems soo right!. sally's wedding - I think gyps did the right thing by telling everyone what a creep and sleez sally was marrying!! Edward - I always thought that he would have Huntington's, I don't know I guess it was just a feeling, or predictable!! anyway, tonight's (Friday) ep is going to be sooo sad, pippa, and every one says good bye to the old house....it looks sooo weird empty!! anyway, I hope Mitch and Hayley get the drop in centre going, I think that would be cool!!

Right now the Channel 7 website has a survey going where you can let them know what improvements you would like to the HandA, All Saints and Blue Heelers sites. The ideas they suggest are great, like a webcam in the studio and classic scenes etc. It sounds a lot better than the current one, so I suggest everyone fills in the survey and checks all the boxes that sound interesting for the HandA site. It might make a difference, who knows! Go to http://www.seven.com.au/questionnaire

Sure, the show will be a little different, but it will still be HandA. I think these changes started back in 1998 when Pippa left, and it has been slowly changing ever since, except recently these changes have become more profound and accelerated. Tomorrow's episode really will represent the end of an era, but maybe the Sutherland family will breathe life into the show. In a chat with Zac Drayson recently I asked him if the show was going to become centered around fostering again, and he said it was in a couple of months, so maybe the show won't lose that unique aspect just yet. I think the drop-in centre opens up a lot of possibilities too. Personally, I think the best option would have been for Carly to separate from Ben, come back to Summer Bay with her kids, foster some more kids and eventually find herself a new husband. Although that won't happen, I still wonder why they hinted at marriage problems between Carly and Ben.

I'm suffering withdrawal here in the UK and watching the old repeats on a cable channel. It's at the bit where Carly is about to marry Ben. Does Ben come back for the re-union ? Is the song that was played at Trav and Rebecca's wedding on either of the soundtracks?

I was just wondering - has anybody here ever emailed home and away with any suggestions/proposals they might have had for potential storylines/characters??? I'm curious as to whether or not they would be open to such suggestions, or if they would just refuse to read them. Say for example you had an idea for the show - not that you wanted to get involved in writing it or anything, just passing on an idea that they might be interested in - do you think it would be worth while emailing it to them, or just a complete waste of time??

I guess at this stage we just have to try and (somehow) 'get over it' and get used to the new way things are going to be. Try and forget all about Pippa and Tom/Michael, the fostering - EVERYTHING...and come to terms with the fact that that show is over now, and its a whole new ball game. Sadly, its a very ordinary ball game, a show now just like every other show, about a town somewhere and the people who live in it. It used to be so much more unique and 'special' because of its theme and nature. But it seems the producers don't want to be unique anymore. Which is a shame. I cant see how they can ever bring it back to its roots now. They had their one chance with Sally/Kieran and they blew it... All we can do now is keep watching, or START watching as if it is a brand new show, and just see if it clicks with us and if it is entertaining enough to hold our attention. To all intents and purposes Home and Away IS starting again, as if from scratch, just the same as if it had changed its name and everything. At this point, it wouldn't make a difference if the title did change. Now is make or break time. What we are seeing now is --- a NEW show from the MAKERS of the hit 80s/90s show Home and Away. It just so happens to have the same name. So we, as viewers, must now sit down, tune in, watch for a couple of weeks/months, and see if its any good. If it is -well keep watching. If not...we wont, and with the show not hitting the screens for a year in the UK...well, its goodnight gracie, because like any other fledgling soap that doesn't take off quickly, the axe falls rather soon.... I think its a SERIOUS case of mismanagement by the shows producers and again my ridiculous notion of a conspiracy in the ranks to kill the programme altogether springs to mind....

In tonight's sad episode, we saw colleen stand up and back Hayley and gypsy up. When colleen speaks, she talks fast and if you look carefully you can see the voice totally miss the mouth. I'm sure heaps of people taped tonight's show and they can watch it again. Also I just hate the fact that the Sutherlands is taking over the house. I always thought that Home and Away stood for fostering, and The Ross house was the roots of fostering in the show. With no more fostering, have they lost the plot?!! It wasn't Sally finding out Kieran was coming on to gyps that I found so sad like I thought, it was seeing the Ross house empty that I couldn't stand. No more cheapy beds in the rooms. No more lounge with that blanket over the top. And worse of all, No more mantle piece with all the photos with all the foster kids. Seeing the whole house empty is just not fare. Viewers have grown on the Ross house! Wouldn't it be better to see some relative take over the house and keep everything in it? Why are they making us adapt to all these new things? I don't want to ! I just fear that they will make the house totally different when Sutherlands move in. Like painting it. I just hope (Fingers crossed) that they wont.

I'm not too bothered about HandA taking a break in Ireland for a while...Its not going to be for long and it gives the Aussies a chance to get ahead a decent amount in episodes again - which is the way it should be really... I kind of liked it when they were months ahead of us. It makes it interesting when you hear about something that's happening in the show over there, or hear about a new character, who you don't know anything about yet... kind of gets you wondering... Who the hell is "so and so"..? Where does he/she come from? Or about storylines you haven't even had a sniff of yet.. wow! How is THAT going to happen??? You know?? Its more fun when we are a bit behind - makes the spoilers all the more exciting to read!!!! The only problem is I really really REALLY want to see the wedding episodes, like, NOW!!! They sound really good. I'm interested in seeing Martin most of all. So typical of him to come back and say he has become a millionaire, probably just to impress everyone. At least he's remained consistent over the years

I am sure I just saw jack (Daniel Amalm) on the Nescafe ad. He is the first guy, hiding under the bed sheets - have a look and see what you think!

Oh that is so cool. I never bothered to get the first CD, but one of my closest friends bought it when it first come out. She said it wasn't that good. But I taped it but I lost it. So I have no idea what's up with it any more. I loved the song they played when Angel and Shane got married, it was soooooooooooooooo beautiful! Well, anyway. What other songs are on the new CD and who sings them?

Oh My God! You must have been so excited! Your so lucky! I think Steven is a babe! Well, he's not the bestest but I think he's okay. Oh yeah, talking about him. What happens with him and the Huntington's diseases. Today (Monday) was the episode where he got the results back and said they were positive. What's up with that? I thought that he didn't have it? Am I wrong or is there a big a**-bout-face mix up, for the show?? Bye

Okay, what's this deal with 'Sandy' or Goldilocks as Nick calls her. You know, the one that is always hanging out with Will and all that stuff, the shop lifter etc... Who is she? And what part of the show does she fit into? I wanna know. How dare she kiss Zac, it was only a peck on the cheek, but still! That's not fair.

Steven and Frank show up as a surprise for Sally tonight (Thursday) >Who on earth is Allison Patterson????? Allison was around when home and >Away first started, she was a real cow and liked to stir up trouble. >Why does HandA suddenly seem to be getting heaps better just as we in Britain >can no longer see it????? Murphy's Law >Where is Lynn suppose to be and how come she shares her name (Lynn >Davenport) with a famous tennis player????? No idea, probably just >coincidence >How is Judy Nunn now, is she still suffering from Stomach Cancer????? >What skeletons is Kieran hiding in his closet????? He's a sleaze, he's trying to get Gypsy to have a relationship with him, but Gypsy doesn't want to, besides he's engaged! >Is episode 3000 the episode of the wedding (It seems to be timed about >right for an anniversary spectacular) ????? no idea (anyone else?) >What are the closing credits like????? They have boxes in the left hand >sider showing various things like surfies and reefs and lifeguards and >starfish etc then the main screen is blue with the credits rolling and fish >passing occasionally |_|credits here |_| |_| it is of course much larger, the squares are about 4-5 cm >When was 'Home and away-The album' released and who/what was on it????? on Chaosmusic.com you can buy the original soundtrack and for UK viewers and US viewers you can also get it sent to you it's 17.50 plus postage and handling for the UK. It doesn't haven't a listing but AFIK Home and Away volume two has been released recently. And many of the people on this newsgroup should be able to give you info on both the albums >Why was Sam originally Sam Nicholls even though his dad was Greg >Marshall????? am I right in saying Sam's mother was a Nicholls or maybe it >was Bobby nicholls agh I can't remember? >How come Bobby's 'real parents' were revealed twice (firstly Brian Simpson >and secondly Don and Morag) Brian Simpson is Bobby's adopted father, Morag >gave Bobby up for adoption when she was born and Bobby's adoptive mother >later died and her father in jail, so she was fostered eventually by Pippa >How come Will Smith shares his name with a successful pop star????? another >coincidence I don't think I am right with two many of those answers, but I guess someone else will be I didn't remember Jack as being Sally's first boyfriend, I can remember him with Chloe and Selina but the Sally relationship seems to have escaped me. I also thought it was funny because with every returning character we had mention of the characters back home and why they didn't show -Nev's heart attack, Debbie's too pregnant, Pippa's daughter's earache (doesn't explain why Tiegan couldn't have shown up though? that would have been good!) I also think Martin isn't actually a millionaire because when Joel said I'll take you back to the sands, martin refused, which makes me think he wouldn't haven even been able to afford it and is sleeping on the beach or something. Last night it was amazing every five seconds we'd get a new surprise of someone else showing up, the episode went wayyyyyyy too quickly. They should have made it into a special like when Angel and Shane were married they had a flashback special which was great as we haven't seen to many Home and Away specials.

Carly would be about 30/31 this year, she was in the same class as me at high school!

I think Gypsy will definitely say something, she has to. But I was thinking, people may not believe her, but if Hayley backed her up by telling everyone she saw Kieran hassling Gypsy the other day, then things might be different. Hayley and Gypsy aren't exactly good friends, so it wouldn't look like Hayley was just trying to stick up for her friend. I'm sure either way, Hayley and Gypsy will become friends again soon after all this. I don't know what Steven will say about Selina, probably make up some excuse about her visiting Shannon or something. I'm not sure if they are married yet, they might still be engaged, we never really heard anything more.

That's a pity, but I suppose RTE have to drop 6 - 8 weeks of episodes during the year, just like Australia. I can see they would put HandA off for sport etc. It sounds a bit strange saying it will be back regularly from September. That's over 2 months away! I guess they mean it's liable for disruption during June to August. What do they mean Australia is taking a break too though? I would imagine HandA might go off air when the Olympics come on in Australia, so perhaps RTE need to drop more episodes to avoid catching up again? (but then RTE will probably take HandA off for the Olympics too). I'd have preferred if they'd have shown 4 episodes a week for the rest of the year - but at least it will be around some of the time.

I received a letter from RTÉ on Monday. The letter is dated 9/6/00 and is from Dermot Horan, Head of Programme Acquisitions and reads: "...We are taking a 6-7 week break this summer as we have caught up with Australia and they are currently taking a break also. The series will be back regularly from September" So it seems that we may have a few episodes every now and then until September when it should be on 5 times a week It seems we have to join the UKers with their withdrawal symptoms! At least it will be back, unlike in UK. If you want to contact RTÉ, you can contact this department by phone at 01-2083111 or fax at 01-2082656; you can also visit RTÉ's site at www.rte.ie

In that case, if it is going to be crossroads it will definitely be not worth watching. I am just old enough to remember it and didn't think a lot of it then either

ok I know it a bit late to be doing this because Sally's wedding is supposed to air tomorrow night, but what do people think will happen, will Gypsy say anything or not. I think she will, since they have put so much emphasis on it, and I also read something in the guide about how Gypsy was acting but that's just mean what does everyone else think?? Also did anyone else think that Floss was acting kinda strange in tonight's ep?? and I hope they have heaps of flash backs too that will be good, and oh and another what is Steven going to say about Selina when he comes that she couldn't come?? You'd think they'd both come together coz weren't they supposed to be married Or that's what I thought

Sorry if I am way behind the times, but what is going to happen to Sal then? And why did she and Vinnie break up. I haven't been able to watch HandA for about a year but saw a few weeks of it a while back when that girl came to stay with Vinnie and Tom who did the cooking for Ailsa. I hope when C5 eventually get HandA sorted I don't miss the reunion, I would love to see it as I watched the prog right from the beginning until about a year back.

How do you know Vinnie is Alison's cousin??/ Is there a conversation with Carly about it or something??

What's this showdown between Lance and Martin?? Aren't they friends anymore, ten years later?? I saw a picture of Martin and he looks like a bouncer. What happened to his hair?? is he going to be in the show for a little while, or is it just a guest appearance like everyone else. Has Lances wife/fiancé/whatever come to town with him this time? Any more mention of them maybe coming back to the Bay full time?

The thing is that I just wish that Kieran wasn't such a sleez. It's a shame when you think about how things are going to end up. It's nice to think of Sal getting married and having kids of her own, but in Home and Away as usual, there always has to be a catch. It's just sad when you see scenes of them happily talking away, nearly making you cry, when you know how awful things are going to turn up. --------------- I agree. I don't see why EVERYTHING has to be so morbid and depressing these days. The show used to be quite lighthearted and things DID sometimes work out 'nice'. Maybe bad guys and 'twists in the tale' or good for dramatic value and ratings figures, but it would be nice to have a genuine, honest to goodness, happy ending story for a change. And Sally really deserved one of those. I don't think its fair to do this to her. Especially when going a different route (i.e. Kieran = nice guy, he and Sally move into Caravan Park and foster kids) would have given us a much more satisfying pay off. oh well...ours not to reason why...

Who on earth is Allison Patterson????? -- A bitchy character from the first year or two of the show, who was Carly's arch enemy kind of thing. She also had a sister (Kim I think) who played a similar role to sally. She wasn't in the show for very long, usually only appearing for one or two episodes every couple of months. Then she finally had a fairly involving role when Gary Samuels was in town. He got her to help him steal money from the Macklins' offices...I think that was about the last time she was ever seen. Why does HandA suddenly seem to be getting heaps better just as we in Britain can no longer see it????? -- I hope it does get better because now is when it really needs to. Having lost a huge percentage of its overall audience it really has to get its home figures up to tide it over until the UK viewers return. Bringing back old faces is a good way to do it, but not for just one or two episodes. It would be interesting if a few of them stayed around for a while - even a month or two would be good! Has anyone heard any more about Alex Papps staying with the show for a while. There were rumours going around to this extent. -- Where is Lynn suppose to be and how come she shares her name (Lynn Davenport) with a famous tennis player????? -- Coincidence. Lynn was reunited with her parents - god only knows where she is supposed to be now. I guess she'd been 27 or so now....They should bring her back sometime, she could be the new holy-roller Celia type person, cos she always was a little bit more religious than your average person. -- How is Judy Nunn now, is she still suffering from Stomach Cancer????? -- No idea. I think she's back filming on the show. -- What skeletons is Kieran hiding in his closet????? -- He's an asshole. That's the only secret he's got. I have no idea what the producers/scriptwriters are playing at with this storyline. Again, it all seems too rushed to be real. What is the point (apart from an excuse to bring back some oldies and get the ratings up.....okay, fair enough...) -- Is episode 3000 the episode of the wedding (It seems to be timed about right for an anniversary spectacular) ????? -- No, its only about episode 2855 or something. Hopefully they something equally as interesting in the pipeline for the big 3000, which they should have already filmed by now...Actually, bearing that in mind, and also rumours of a certain other event which was being filmed very recently, I reckon 3000 could include a very sad death... -- What are the closing credits like????? -- Haha! I guess UK viewers have been wondering this for years!! Nothing too spectacular really, the same theme as the opening ones. I used to love when the show started and they showed a final five second clip just at the very end of the music....don't know why exactly but it certainly stopped people walking off as soon as the credits began to roll. -- Why was Sam originally Sam Nicholls even though his dad was Greg Marshall????? -- Nicholls was his mums name - his parents weren't married and Sam lived with his mum initially. -- How come Bobby's 'real parents' were revealed twice (firstly Brian Simpson and secondly Don and Morag) ????? -- Just for the fun of it! Brian Simpson was only her adoptive father though she didn't know this until later. When she found out she went to seek out her real parents and guess who they turned out to be. -- How come Will Smith shares his name with a successful pop star????? -- God only knows. This one CANT be a coincidence as the OTHER Will was very well known already before HandAs Will ever came into being.

Tonight's show was just so beautiful! I loved all the flash backs! All her family might be there now but will they be there when she needs them, when she finds out? Things like this really make you think about what has happened over the years. So much has changed, and I an also one of the people who would prefer to watch repeats of old episodes. But maybe things will turn out for the better in the long run. I hope so. I feel so sorry to the people who have to wait a yr for HandA! that would drive me crazy! That is probably the biggest blow HandA has suffered, and the way HandA is now, I really hope it will survive. Wait! I said that already, oh well. She did not look 40yrs older, in fact I think she looks the same since last time we saw her. When was that? Oh well that's about all I can think of for now and I need another tissue.

When do we see Steven? Does he just turn up at the church or something? Wasn't it so good to see everyone back together again?!?!?!?!?! Like Lance and Martin. Jack looks so good too. It's a pity Judy Nunn couldn't have been there, it's just not the same with that other woman acting like she's known all these people for years.

Wasn't tonight's episode the best that has been on for ages!!! It was so cool seeing everyone so happy and together, and it will be great to see Frank and Steven tomorrow night too. I don't think Carly looks all that old! Anyway, it is less than 3 years since we last saw her anyway. I'm wondering if there is any plans to bring her back again, because they were hinting at marriage problems between her and Ben, so that has to be there for some reason or they wouldn't bother saying it. On Friday night Pippa has a last moment in the house, so that will be good, since last time she left she was acting as though she would be back in less than a year (although we all knew differently). It is funny they didn't mention her baby earlier, and just have Sally tell someone that Pippa had a girl, but I'm sure tonight was the first time it was mentioned.

Well we found out tonight that Neville had a heart attack and died 2 years ago. Carly looks about 40 and is piled up with make up to hide it :-) The showdown between Lance and Martin is fantastic stuff!!!!!!!!!!! Fl0ss has not aged at all. Amazing!

Yeah, ever since Vincent Patterson joined the cast (1998 before Joel, Nat, Gyps and Tom) I've been wondering if he's any relation to Allison. It was so cool to find out that he's her cousin. They could've been brother and sister easily, because Allison lived with her mum and so did Vinnie. I'm hoping one day that we'll get to meet Vinnie's mum because he talks about her all the time. As for Martie, how good is it to see him again? I can't wait for tonight when Lance returns. They could do some scenes together. By the way, I don't think that Martin is really a rich guy in Queensland, he's taking Vinnie for a ride. Vinnie and Martin are so alike. I think Martie's the only character to stay a bit longer after Sally's wedding. The rest probably go before Monday. I have worked it out. We will have 11 original characters back! Pity about Celia not staying. Does anyone know where Sally will stay after the wedding? With Shauna and Leah? and I've been wondering about Neville. When Floss returns, she doesn't take him with her.

Yeah, it is Debra Lawrence, but what I meant is that she was not the person who played Pippa back in 1988 when all these other originals were around. Hope you get what I mean! But I would prefer to have Debra back than Vanessa Downing anyway, since she was around for so much longer, I consider her to be the real Pippa these days (although I didn't when the change first occurred!). Hey, I realised that basically all of the living members of the original foster family from the first episode will be back in Summer Bay. The original family was Pippa, Tom, Frank, Steven, Carly, Lynn, Bobby and Sally. Tom and Bobby obviously can't come (unless they did another ghost appearance) so Lynn is the only one who is really missing. She wasn't really on the show for very long anyway I guess.

No I don't think it's ever been mentioned before. And it is pretty funny isn't it? I always forget that Vinnie is meant to have grown up in summer bay.

Huh? Isn't it Debra Lawrence? It's gonna be so cool to see all the old characters again!

Oops, I knew I missed someone, but I was talking about ORIGINALS, from right at the beginning when Tom and Pippa first moved to Summer Bay. Jack didn't show up until 1994!

Hey you forgot Jack

Wasn't it fantastic last night when Martin Dibble showed up again!!!! It is just so typical of him to end up a millionaire and want to show off about it. And it was great seeing him and Vinnie talk together, because they really are similar in ways. Also, does anyone remember it being mentioned before that Vinnie is Alison Patterson's cousin? I thought that was pretty funny. Tonight should be great, with everyone showing up. I can't believe we are going to have so many originals back - Floss, Lance, Martin, Frank, Carly, Steven, Pippa (well, different actress, but excellent!)

Anyone know what Tempany is doing now? Last I heard she was in the US at some drama college. I remember some rumours about her and Steven (can't remember actor's name) coming back to the series a while ago.

That's so ridiculous and childish...talk about being sore losers! So they lost the show to another channel, they could handle themselves with a little dignity and tell their loyal viewers (the people who keep them in jobs) the truth of the story, that Home and Away ISN'T finished, but it won't be returning on ITV and CAN be found on Channel 5 at some as yet unspecified date in the future. Its so mean of them not to give this information to others who might not know what the situation is. Although, do I really have to talk about being mean at all when they are stopping the show being broadcast by C5, presumably for as long as possible? They obviously didn't care about handa when they had it, and obviously didn't make too much of an effort to keep it either, so acting all peeved and offended now is seriously hypocritical. ITV - you didn't want the show, you didn't care about it - now let someone who DOES want it, have it and get on with your own business

Central said "And now the last in the present series of Home and Away" and at the end "That was the last in the current series of Home and Away, at the same time tomorrow You've Been Framed (Fat bird presents camcorder cock-ups), plans for a new tea-time soap will be announced later in the year". I wonder how many English viewers thought that Home and Away would be back soon for a new series

Well, as I understand it will be a remake of Crossroads (ROFL) so you can make your own mind up (that's if you're old enough to remember Crossroads)?

Anglia made an announcement along the lines of .. and now we say a sad farewell to an old favourite.. and at the end of the episode concluded with that was the last in the current (?) series of Home and Away. They then announced that the following week they would be showing Wheel of Fortune (wow, not!!) and told us of plans for a new soap later in the year!!..bet it will be crap in comparison to HandA.

The songs on the album are: 1. HandA Theme - The Robertson Brothers 2. True Romantic - Kate Ceberano 3. Did it again - Kylie Minogue 4. Girls Like That - Custard 5. Cry - The Mavis's 6. When I grow up - Garbage 7. Spin the wheel - The Blackeyed Susans 8. Big as yer like - Pound System 9. Venus - The Feelers 10. Sing it back - Moloko 11. Not like you - Loki 12. Even When I'm Sleeping - Leonardo's Bride 13. Got sold on heaven - Snout 14. Theophilus Thistler...An exercise in vowels - Sonic Animation 15. 9PM (Till I Come) - ATB 16. Hallways - Something For Kate 17. Crush - Violetine 18. Run Baby Run - Deadstar The actors on the front of the album are Kimberley Cooper, Ryan Kwanten and Rebecca Cartwright.

I had a go at ITV duty office about this, they didn't actually reply to what I said about their misleading announcements, but sent out a VERY carefully worded and "spun" statement which presumably went out to anyone else who enquired/complained. I don't think I can legally post it to the list, (if you want to read it mail dutyoffice@itv.co.uk about HandA) but the gist was that it was all the fault of the programme makers and C5 who took HandA away from ITV, despite ITV being ever so eager to keep it (no doubt by changing the times last year ;-) ) and even offering to "help" the programme makers to "improve" the content (i.e. interfere). They admit that they are stopping C5 showing HandA but don't say for how long

Announcers in a number of regions (including my region, Carlton London) described the episode as 'the last in the series' - announcements were made at both the beginning and end stating, "And now, the final episode of Home and Away". Yeah, right...

On the Central Scotland IBA channel: No-one said anything about it, before or after

I didn't manage to catch the last episode shown on ITV last week....I was just wondering if there was any kind of announcement made (I'm sure there had to be) about the show finishing, and what it was.... How was the issue actually raised by the presenters?? Was it before the episode went to air or at the end of it? And was there any prior indication given by the presenters that HandA was in fact coming to an end on the channel. I'm just wondering if there might have been some people out there who still didn't know it was going off the air that day - I can imagine they might have been very shocked to hear so sudden an announcement. Just curious. Can any ITV viewer of the show fill me in on how it was all handled on the air?

I was wondering if you might be able to tell me what songs are on the album as I still haven't got it yet. The theme sounds sooo cool does it play the music in the re-cap when it starts?

I bought the CD on Friday, I have been looking for it for weeks. I've known since February that it was going to be released, but it didn't come out until May I think. I haven't had a chance to listen to it much yet. It seems okay, there is a full version of the new theme song, which goes for 3 minutes and includes both the opening and closing lyrics. In that respect it is better than the old CD because the theme song was a lot shorter on that, just the opening credits version. As for the songs, they are okay, but not anything special. I loved the last one how it had ones that I really associate with HandA, like Throw Your Arms Around Me, Dangerous Game, There is a Garden, etc., which were all played when Shane died. For the UK people, the best way to get it is probably through one of the online music stores, like www.sanity.com.au, or HMV. I think they both have it listed under Home and Away 2. Anyone in Australia should be able to find it in a music store, but if not just get them to order it in for you.

It is called, "Home and Away 2". I'm not sure but if they don't just get them to order it in. For the person who asked about getting it in the UK, you might want to contact MushroomUK and see if you can get a copy through them.
