Summer Bay says goodbye to Sam Marshall; Ryan Clark's final episode
is 2835. Ryan joined the cast in 1991 at the age of seven as Sam
Nicholls. We are gonna miss you, Ryan! Good luck!
Kate O'Connor is played by Kris McQuade; Kris played Loony Laura
in 1993; Damian persuaded her to help him with training for his
running
That's right another HandA album has been released in Oz. I thought
this would happen as I emailed mushroom records asking if there
were plans to release another album and they said they couldn't
say. I knew that they would have said no if there wasn't. Its
cover has some stars of HandA on the cover, though I only got
a quick look.
I have just returned from the Swans Vs Essendon match (go the
swannies) where I just happened to bump into Steven James King
and Anna Hruby! I didn't speak to Anna (she was too busy puffing
on a cigarette) but I did speak to Steven - he was very nice and
friendly, and we chatted for a bit about Home and Away and the
Swans. He looks so much different without all that make up, and
he's a lot shorter than I thought too, I'm 6ft tall and he was
a little shorter than me. Anyway , I thought I'd share that with
you. Oh, and in case you're interested, Anna was talking to another
actor whose name I can't remember, but he played the pervert in
E-Street and he was also in Sons and Daughters about 10 years
ago.
Yeah, that is Anna. I love that ad! It's so dumb though! LOL!
But it is her!
Wow! I'm soooo jealous! I live in London and people are always
saying to me "oh, I bet you've seen loads of famous people - they
all live in London don't they!", which is true, loads live in
London, but I've NEVER seen anyone (oh, I lie, once I saw a children's
newsreader who is so infamous I don't even know his name!) For
goodness sake I haven't even seen them in panto at Christmas!
But to meet HandA stars - and so many of them...wow, that's just
the ultimate.
Guess what all you Home and Away fans? Well, I was shopping this
morning and guess who I saw? BOBBY!! It was so exciting! She looks
exactly the same. She is so short and small, and she was wearing
glasses and baggy pants! Do any of you guys know or have met people
from HandA? The guy who plays Ken, lives next door to my good
friend, last week I saw the guy who plays Kieran at the Opera
House and my sister goes to university with the "old" Pippa. (The
one with curly blonde hair.) She must have gone back to uni to
get a degree or something cause by now she would be in her 40's!
Oh yeah, and the guy who plays Edwood was at my schools production
on "West Side Story". I love Edwood so... much! And he looks way
better in real life! I also have some info on the oldest daughter
in the new family (the "Sutherlands"). She went to acting school
with my friend and apparently she is REALLY bad. She used to be
obese, and have gross teeth. But she's had heaps of work done
and now she's skinny and she thinks she's really good. She is
obsessive about her hair, which is REALLY long. Next week I am
getting some photos of her when she was obese. It should be quite
funny! Anyway, I'll catch you all later! HOME AND AWAY RULES!
I think it will be a new version as I heard somewhere that they
were going to revamp it. What it will be like only time will tell.
If it is as bad as the old version it won't be worth bothering
with
Anna Hruby is also on one of the continentals ads. I cant remember
which one (sorry) but it's definitely her
Anyone know about that lady on the Lipton* Tea commercial? The
one how she says "eat up your vegetables" The little kid says
"Why?" The lady says "Because they have antioxidants." Then
the voice-over says "Another good source of antioxidants is Tea"
I am pretty sure it's Anna. Can anyone confirm that?
Did anyone else happen to see the repeat episode of Police Rescue
on TV today? It was the episode that Rebecca Cartwright had a
guest role on when she was only little. It was so cool to see
What she looked and acted like 8 years ago
Do they mean old Crossroads repeats or a new version? Is ITV
rapidly becoming a cut price cable channel or What? Anyone who
can't remember Crossroads: So bad it wasn't even funny
someone here mentioned about taping episodes; I have done this
a number of times; in fact, I have been asked many times for episodes
from just a few to several episodes. Most of them were given free
in exchange for stuff for my site, with some charges for postage
and tapes. Of course some may add on more; this would be the profit
for the trouble to record episodes. Should any of you suffer withdrawal
symptoms and need the fix of the episodes ASAP, I would be glad
to help your addiction to Home and Away!
I have seen in today's Star newspaper (7/6/00) that ITV intend
to show Crossroads in the slot currently occupied by Home and
Away. As the Euro football starts next week, Crossroads will not
start immediately
The replacement Ailsa is definitely different! She looks *NOTHING*
like Judy. They could've @ least made her hair the same. She looks
more like Colleen. Nothing against her, but I just can't see her
as Ailsa (like everybody). Sally's wedding will be so cool!. Guests
arrive the day B4. I'm taping it and getting 3 friends to also,
just in case. The whole cast + the returnings will be in it. Who
knows 4 sure if they will definitely be a wedding? I can't wait
to see Martin (and Lance) again. As well as Jack, Pippa, Floss?,
Frank? and Carly? I think (from What I've heard) that the 'Sutherlands'
will be just like the 'Scullys' in Neighbours. Everything makes
sense. Also, 1st I thought that there wouldn't be a Home and Away
cast on the list, but then I thought why not? they would have
more reason to be. If I was in the cast, I would stay.
RTE is the main broadcaster (TV and radio) for the Republic of
Ireland. Home and Away is shown in Ireland on N2 (RTE Network
Two). RTE are normally the station closest behind Australia, and
are notorious for showing HandA before it was broadcast in Australia
at the start of this year. RTE can be received in the Republic
of Ireland, many parts of Northern Ireland, and some western parts
of Britain.
How do you know that it will have the credits on when it returns
on Channel 5?? I don't think anyone knows this for certain yet
- how could they.. but going by the fact that AFAIK C5 does not
cut the closing credits of imported material, but prefers to tell
jokes and give trivia over the credits, I'd say there is a 99%
chance that C5 *will* be showing the credits. Are C5 on record
anywhere as saying they'll be restoring the credits BTW?
RTE stands for Radio Telefis Éireann, the non-commercial
broadcasting organisation for the Republic of Ireland. (My spelling
there is probably wrong!) Scotland and England are quite near
Northern Ireland; and the Welsh west coast is quite near Eire,
so it is quite usual for people living near those coastlines to
pick up one another's TV broadcasts (terrestrial). You can even
buy special aerials, and gadgets for finding the best position
for them - minimum £300 I'd think, nowadays. The UK mainland broadcasts
are on UHF (ultrahigh frequency, wavelengths around 0.3 to 0.5
metre); and some broadcasts from (southern) Ireland are on longer
wavelengths around 1.5 metres. Most of the time the latter travel
longer distances, especially across the few tens of sea miles;
however in some weather conditions it is the shorter wavelengths
which travel better. So I suspect no-one /relies/ on receiving
broadcasts from the "other" country, especially now that most
channels are duplicated on satellite (microwave) channels. About
once a year, for only a few minutes a day, some such waves "bounce"
off a curtain of ionised atmosphere near the North Pole, and travel
to strange places like South Africa. This causes "DX Freaks" to
sit up all night trying to alert their neighbours before it's
all over. Such events usually coincide with a display of the Northern
Lights (aurora borealis). As far as I know, the same sort of thing
also happens in the southern hemisphere. Also, random trails of
meteorites can ionise parts of the atmosphere and cause TV broadcasts
to be picked up nowhere near the intended viewers. So we in the
UK who want to watch Tennis about this time of year would say
that it happens during Wimbledon, causing British TV to be swamped
by Spanish TV. Needless to say, these rare and freakish kinds
of reception are of no help to anyone who wants to understand
an entire episode of HandA! I expect there are a few people in
Scotland, England and Wales planning to record HandA via Irish
TV, after this week. I'd be glad to join any reasonable scheme
for VHS recordings of HandA (on the UK 625 line PAL system) to
be posted round "addicts" until Channel 5 takes over. I'm pretty
sure that RTE uses the same "system" as TV in the UK. Till then,
I'll rely on Summer Bay Courier, and alt.fan.home-and-away to
save me and my Better Half from withdrawal symptoms. Cheers,
Hey guys, thought you might like to know that at least one of
the stars of HandA is on our courier! I can't tell ya who cos
I'm sworn to secrecy and don't bother pestering me until I tell
ya COs I won't! Is RTE an Irish commercial channel? Can Irish
people also pick up ITV? Whoever asked about UK people recording
the Channel 5 episodes obviously doesn't realise that RTE will
still be showing the episodes before Channel 5( about a year before
in fact!). Also a big thanks to whoever it was who posted their
Alphabet comp entry to ALL of us instead of JUST Sarah! Whoever
posted a link to a website with pics (would credit but I've got
a poor memory!) , I can't get the pic of RayandNancye to load
up however many times I reload the page.
I don't know exactly when the new family are arriving, probably
in a couple of weeks or so. The mother is a counsellor, so the
kids will probably talk her into becoming involved in the drop
in centre. Sally's wedding is next week. The people coming back
are Pippa, Frank, Carly, Martin, Lance and Jack. I know Sally
definitely gets to the alter with Kieren, but I don't know What
happens then - I assume she will pull out at the last minute or
Gypsy will say something.
Hi, Does anyone know when the new family are arriving and do
they have anything to do with the new drop-in centre? Like, the
mother or father could be the counsellor or something.....dunno!
Anyway, about "Home and Away:the Early Years" in Tasmania; is
anyone getting videos of Home and Away from Tasmanians?? I think
they could make a lot of money! One more thing.... does anyone
know when Sally's actual wedding day is?? And who is coming for
the wedding?? I think that one will be one to video~!
someone said that HandA is off RTÉ for four weeks - is this true?
how do u know this? if any of you wish to contact RTÉ, you can
call them at 01-2083111; you can speak to Mr Dermot Horan, who
is Head of Programme Acquisitions or to someone else in that dept,
or you can fax them at 01-2082656 or via their site at www.rte.ie
In about two weeks time Judy Nunn will be TEMPORARY replaced
by an actress, Nancy Hayes. (They look nothing alike !!). Judy
had to get a tumorous growth removed from her abdomen. (OUCH !!).
Shauna finally finds out that her mum is Ailsa but Ailsa lies
about who Shauna's father is. Sally and Kieran get married, poor
Sally, and Fisher doesn't give Sal away. My guess is that Pippa
will.
Remember when I mentioned about RTÉ showing Home and Away this
Friday? It seems that RTÉ have made errors on teletext as it mentioned
that HandA would be on as usual. Lets hope it will be on next
week.
I think...
DANI Tamin Sursok
SHELLEY Paula Forrest
RHYS Michael Beckley
KIRSTY Kristy Hayes
JADE Kate Garvan
.. and I believe they are the Sutherlands. From What I heard
Ailsa's final scenes are being filmed at the moment - all I've
heard is she is dying - so it sounds like she isn't killed off
instantly, so it's probably two to three months before she exits
on screen - closer to three months I would hazard a guess...
Does anyone know who the people who will be playing the roles
of the Sullivan family? And does anyone know how and when Ailsa
is leaving?
I've just checked RTE teletext again (4pm Fri) and it says HandA
isn't on after all! :-( I wish they'd make their minds up! I'll
be checking at 18:30 just in case they change their minds *again*!
Yeah, Friday (today). I've no idea if the lunchtime episode
was on today, but I'll be checking at the usual time later on
today. We really need to watch RTE's schedules closely - they
have habit of changing things at the last minute sometimes.
The closest you get to RTE on satellite is Tara TV, and AFAIK
that specialises in home-grown RTE programmes, so no HandA there
unfortunately :-( . Maybe RTE will make it onto Sky Digital some
day, but I'd say we've more chance of seeing ITV on there first!
The only way of getting RTE in the UK is if you live in Northern
Ireland (certain areas) and maybe put up a powerful aerial, or
likewise I believe people in west Wales may be just about able
to pick it up if they point a big aerial westwards.
Thinks: Is RTE on any satellite that can be received in UK?
I had been thinking about getting satellite, being able to continue
with HandA straight away would swing it.
I just check it there now and HandA is scheduled in the usual
places for tomorrow. Is that 'tomorrow' as in Friday? Damn I hope
it wasn't Thursday! I hate it when they do that!!! I think the
next episode should be interesting too, the end of the stalker
storyline and all.....I'm sure it will be cut to bits on itv next
week so I hope I didn't miss it...
There was an announcement on Monday at 18:30 on N2 that HandA
was off for a few weeks. I thought she said 3 weeks, but another
source says it's 4. I just check it there now and HandA is scheduled
in the usual places for tomorrow. Very strange! But then (out
of paranoia) I've been tuning in at 18:30 each day on N2 just
in case they decided to show an unscheduled episode - like they
did at the start of the year... and even the notorious first 2000
episode was in the Aertel teletext schedules the day it aired.
They maybe forgot they dropped an extra episode, so they have
one episode to show (the ITV Final). I was very surprised they
were going to sit back and let ITV overtake them - even if it
was just one episode! We can be certain that by this time next
week HandA on ITV will be a thing of the past :-( . I tuned in
that day just because I didn't think they'd let ITV overtake them
- and there it was. I thought they might have just let ITV premiere
their final episode in this part of the world. At the start of
the year they boasted "see HandA on RTE first" - of
course back then they were showing HandA *first* in the world
(by accident). I wonder if tomorrow's episode is a one-off and
HandA will vanish for another 2-3 weeks? I'd rather they showed
4 episodes a week than take a long break. Your site is great BTW
stacks of info on it!
I faxed RTÉ last night about Home and Away being off. I checked
the text tonight and it appears that it is on tomorrow; probably
because of the bank holiday or just that they want to stay ahead
of ITV until they are absolutely sure that ITV is actually stopping
for good remember when RTÉ showed Home and Away a week earlier
than they were supposed to after Christmas? I faxed them as I
was worried that ITV would take over. Fortunately, they paid attention;
they told me in several letters that they would always stay ahead
of ITV
HandA is always nominated for Most Popular Show on Australian
Television at the Logie Awards. It used to win the award, back
when it was called Most Popular Series, but it has now not won
since 1996. Blue Heelers always wins the award now. However, this
year Justin Melvey did win the Logie for Most Popular New Talent
Male.
The British soap award were on last night and HandA got the
award for the best foreign soap for two years in a trot (the soap
awards have only been on twice). But it was hardly worth the bother,
it was a quick rushed thing. Not like the others. I can except
nobody being there to collect it, but they didn't even have a
video from the cast or clips from the show in the nominees part.
Didn't I hear that H'A were up for some awards in Oz, What where
they for and how did they go.
Won't be worth the bother. HandA will be off UK screens in a
week and when it come on Channel 5(whenever that will be) it'll
have the credits on.
Yes, the actress is Kris McQuade and she did play Laura Brennan
also. Well spotted! (its a bit more difficult for UK viewers to
spot when the same actor plays multiple characters, when you don't
get the closing credits and the names of the actors involved...which
I still think has to be illegal or something, if the Australian
actors union knew about it....) Yeah, I'm positive she is. No
doubt about it.
I still think that Shauna's Aunt is the same woman who played
"Loony Laura", the woman that coached Damien Roberts
and taught him how to run. Does anyone else agree?
do we really need a family coming into the Bay? What we should
have is a new character who would be a foster mother based in
the Summer Bay House like Pippa and this character should stay
for a long time like 5 years or so. When we had Pippa, she was
there for almost 10 years (1988-early 1998) adding on families
would make this programme like Brookside and EastEnders which
I am sure you would not want (how long have the full family of
the Nashes (not including Travis) stayed? barely 2 years) Bring
back the original idea of the foster family!!!
Actually I thought the scenes with Ailsa revealing she was Shauna's
mum, and also the ones where Irene was being stalked (by the car)
were well done - and Mitch/Edward investigating the old house...Duncan
and Nick becoming mates...Alf and Ken becoming mates...There was
some good stuff in there come on! Okay, maybe I just got overly
excited because nothing much of interest ever seems to happen
anymore...
Edward does not have Alzheimer's, he is believed (although there
is still hope) to have a disease called Huntingtons disease. Both
Edward and Peta have left so Peta is not leaving her new hubbie.
Apparently so. It's been mentioned from a few different sources.
I'd say it's true.
No idea - I really hope it was her own decision. Agreed. While
Ailsa is not the most exciting character, she is one of the most
complex - when she gets a good storyline she really excels.
I think she felt it wasn't the same after Roger Oakley (Tom)
left. Vanessa left only a matter of a couple of months after Roger.
It would be interesting to compile a list of ex-cast and why they
left - their decision or the producers. I'd guess the vast majority
decided to leave for themselves, but a fair percentage must have
been given a push...
Hmmm... if it's any indication how good I found those episodes,
I've totally forgotten What happened in them :-) Oh yeah, I remember
vaguely now... they were above average (which these days is no
great compliment :-( ). I think it's 4 weeks. I thought the announcer
at 6:25 on N2 today said it was 3 - I was only half-listening,
but another source says it's 4 - which is probably correct. I
would have forgiven them for talking over the closing credits
last Friday. It's a pity it's going off for so long - and then
will probably be disrupted further with summer sport - they should
have waited a couple of weeks to take it away. Oh well, at least
it's coming back in the near future, unlike the UK situation :-(
.
I have to say that the last two episodes shown in Ireland were
very reminiscent of the sort of good quality stuff we used to
be treated to on a daily basis from HandA. Here is a glimmer of
What the programme used to be....and fingers crossed that it isn't
just a temporary thing. If the episodes continue on like this,
maybe the show will become as good as it used to be. Now - does
anybody know how long it is going to be off for on RTE? I know
its not advertised in next weeks RTE guide, and someone on the
newsgroup said it wasn't scheduled the week after either? Why
don't they make some kind of announcement if there's going to
be a break in the show? So annoying!!
As far as I know, Judy Nunn is only leaving HandA for a short
while, as she was ill (like they did with Mitch, and years ago
with selina).
Is Judy Nunn really leaving Home and Away? Was it her choice
or some idiot producer's idea. I find it hard to believe they
would want to get rid of such an integral character, now that
Debra Lawrance isn't around anymore. Also, does anyone know why
the original Pippa (Vanessa Downing) left the show? I know they
got rid of Floss and Neville because they thought they were to
old for the show, and they got rid of Lyn because they had to
many kids to make storylines for.
Kristy Hayes...name rings a bell. Does anyone know of anything
she's been in before?
Here's a summery of an article from the British version of Inside
Soap:
When Ailsa bumps into Shauna's visiting aunt, it's immediately
obvious that A and K share some history, and noticing how unnerved
his wife has become, Alf demands to know What she's hiding. But
he's shocked when she reveals that 20 years ago, whilst in prison
for killing her father, she was brutally raped by a warden and
fell pregnant. With the help of her cell mate, Kate, A had the
baby girl adopted and K's presence in summer bay has led A to
make the connection that Shauna is her daughter. "It's a
huge shock for Ailsa" says Judy Nunn. "It's one thing
knowing all these years that she has a daughter out there, but
to find out it's someone she knows and likes, just floors her.
And, on top of that, all the ghastly memories of the attack come
flooding back." Alf is even more confused when A dismisses
his suggestion that she should tell S the truth. "Ailsa knows
that S is searching for her real mum, but feels unable to come
forward. She knows that S will ask questions about her father,
but that's not a subject she's willing to discuss. The pressure
gets too much so she leaves the bay for a while. [it then talks
about the stand-in actress, Nancy Hayes, who will play A for a
while because of Judy's stomach surgery.] That's it. So there
u go. It'll be interesting to see if she does tell S, and how
S reacts. While typing that it's occurred to me, if it does get
out, won't Duncan get embarrassed, finding out he's been trying
to get a kiss of his sister! I can't believe it. It's so unfair.
Please, everyone write. Pretend you're all from England or something
so we don't have to wait 6 months - 1 year to watch HandA!!!
Irene leaves? Peta leaves? Peta just got 'married' how can she
leave her 'husband' who has alzehmas (sp?)? Irene's stalker is
certainly a good theme and suspense theme for HandA, they haven't
had one of those for a long time. Speaking of long times, did
anyone notice on Thursdays episode I think it was, someone was
talking to each other in the diner (Alf and Ailsa? not sure sorry)
and the song, 'Never met a girl like you before' was playing?
I don't think I've heard that song on HandA since Isla Fisher(character,
not person) and Whoever her b/f name was, were getting it on in
bed awhile back. Hmmm my memory's dead atm, I think I need more
coffee. Anyway, hopefully Hayley dumps Mitch and goes out with
me. ;)
I'm not sure about it being Casey's mother I can't remember
that far back, I was not totally convinced by her acting, to me
it seemed as thought she was about to burst out laughing. I just
didn't think she could pull of the whole Psycho thing but that's
just me
OMG! I hope Peta doesn't leave. Everyone is leaving! I don't
know why! H and A is like the best Australian TV show. Um, does
Nat come back into H and A later on? Same with Tom, do they come
back?
Now that you say about Casey's mother, I think it is her. When
I saw her, like in Irene's house, I knew I had seen her before.
But I had no idea where. I think it is her
I think Peta leaves, there's an article on her in Who Weekly
on What she's been doing since leaving handa, but I don't know
when or why
Is Irene really going? She's one person who's name I haven't
heard mention of on the "axe list" recently. Out of
the ones who are left, I believe 3 are leaving, almost certainly
including Ken and Kieran, also Edward, Peta, and (shock horror)
Ailsa! [It wouldn't surprise me if either Donald or Judith was
next on the chopping board]. A family of 5, the Sutherlands, totally
unrelated to anyone are taking over caravan park. He also played
Frank "dodgy accent" Zenotti (school computers guy)
a few years ago too. BTW I really am not sure I like the way HandA
is going these days - the producers are changing so much so quickly.
They'll ruin the show if they're not careful. BTW I notice that
HandA isn't scheduled on RTE for the next fortnight (at least!).
This means that ITV will overtake RTE for the first (and last!)
time ever! (Only) the final ITV episode will be shown before RTE,
unless RTE just happen to realise this and we get an extra unscheduled
episode before June 10th (not like they haven't done that before!
:-) ).
So, who's leaving exactly then? Irene ; Sam ; Natalie ; Tom
; any more?
ITV duty office are saying C5 are showing HandA from January.
ITV do have something to gain by "lengthening the gap"
- if C5 shows at the same time(s) as ITV, there will be a huge
move of viewers to C5, but the longer the "gap" the
less people will continue with HandA. Of course, they deny it
Does anyone else reckon that Irene's stalker is the same actress
who played Casey's mother a few years back?
The final ITV episode is on Thursday 8 June. So there are 7
episodes left. I believe the episode Australia showed today was
the last one ITV will see. I think it's very unlikely HandA will
be on C5 within a few weeks. The earliest I think we can realistically
hope to see it is January 2001 and at worst June/July 2001, but
maybe something can be done to speed things up? I wonder if writing
to ITV is a good idea or not? They have nothing to gain by preventing
HandA from starting on C5 immediately
you can tell ITV are close to the end of home and away. For
the last 4 behind but know there 7. Some only show the afternoon
edition. I hope we don't have to wait a year but am happy to wait
a couple of weeks
I agree with your comments on Ken. How the f**k did he get passed
the screen test to get on the show?
How good was last night's HandA ?!?! This thing with Irene has
been done well, maybe the script writers/producers are FINALLY
starting to listen to the stuff we say about HandA not having
enough suspense and drama in it. The current storyline reminds
me of when Paul was stalking Angel, except that really was a lot
more dramatic. Now all we need is to get someone else to play
Ken, and HandA would be great again
HandA FANS, Did you see Fisher in the opening Credits last Friday
(before the ones with Leah and Nick) when he threw an aeroplane
@ the shark. I watch them every episode to see if they see the
shark. So far there has been Irene x2, Ailsa, Fisher. Alf needs
to see one
I mailed ITV duty office earlier and they replied that contractual
restrictions made it impossible for the ITV Network to renew the
contract. This could mean anything. Either too expensive, or the
programme makes got fed up with it being cut so much... Does anyone
have a clue What it might mean? They also said that C5 may be
screening it from January
Even I, who am very cynical about ITV, am surprised about them
going through with the twelve month limitation on any other network
carrying HandA. ITV is simply a series of slick money making operations
with no interest in it's viewers other than as advertising revenue
generators - no different to Sky really. I do hope they get the
worst possible press on this, and intend to contribute to that
as much as possible. As for them backing down, or compromising,
on their decisions, they are still keeping on with their policy
of having wiped out News at Ten, despite What has inevitably been
a louder outcry than there may be about HandA
I must admit I had forgotten how soon HandA was finishing here
in the UK, but I believe there will be such an outcry that ITV
will have to back down. Does anyone know exactly how many people
watch HandA in the UK? I would guess 7 million or so, but I could
be wrong... If ITV enforce this clause I think that questions
will be asked, and the whole thing could explode. The UK viewers
should start writing to ITV now before it's too late!
I believe the final ITV episode is on Thursday 8 June. It's
true unfortunately. The news of HandA's transfer to 5 broke about
2 months ago. It is moving to Channel 5, from next July. ITV have
this clause which means no one can show new episodes for a year
after ITV stop. So, no new HandA for a year in the UK, unless
ITV back down, which isn't likely. (Also C5 are said to be trying
to get hold of Neighbours - although the announcer at the end
of Prisoner at the weekend talked like they had done the deal
already, although I don't believe that's the case.) I just wonder
how many UK viewers don't realise HandA is ending on ITV in less
than 3 weeks?
To tell even more, they are capable not to show even the names
of the actors/actresses who have only a minor part in that specific
episode, no, they have to show ads instead
c5 bought home and away!!!
I have just learnt that ITV are not going to be showing home
and away as from about 9th June!!! Is this true?? Does anyone
know where we will be able to see it from then on??? any other
channel taking it over??
The 2000 cliff-hanger didn't get shown in South Wales until
after the New Year. It was shown about mid January/February. It
just seemed more like the sort of thing they show on a Friday
before the weekend to make you watch it again on Monday
It really is a worry, considering a lot of characters left last
year too - The Home and Away website had this big article
on it about the cliff-hanger and it then didn't arrive until about
the beginning of February. I think they should have a section
for UK viewers like they do on other soap websites. What do you
think??
The other person that could be her mother might be Kate but
I don't think so. But Shauna seem to get on quite well with her,
but still going on the Ailsa being her mother
Chloe, Rebecca, Travis, Joey, Marilyn etc. By the time the new
family arrives and a few more leave, it will be so different to
it was even just a year or two ago.
I've heard a rumour that 3 more characters are leaving, besides
What is on your list... and a rumour that even one of the originals
is leaving! Aargh! What are you doing producers? I think with
all these major changes it's make-or-break time for HandA.
Oh my god! Has Sam left? He hasn't left here in Britain yet,
(at least I don't think so). Why did he leave? Was it to do his
HSC? Is he coming back? Is there a new address at which I can
write to him, does anyone know, coz I had the HandA one but I
guess if he's left there will be no point in sending anything
there. I would really appreciate it if anyone has any address
to write to him at, if they would give it to me, coz I love him
loads. Ryan Clark Rules All!
Apparently next week Shauna finds out she is adopted. My guess
is that Ailsa is her mother! That would be so weird, but I think
it is What is going to happen
I think Kate is her mum. I thought that the other night when
she kept bitching about Shauna's parents
Kate arrives in the bay and Shauna thinks that some things she
says are weird. Shauna goes to see her real mum and she finds
out she was adopted. She is also surprised at who her mum is!
My conclusion.. I think Ailsa is her mum
Okay, here is What Inside Soap has to say about returning characters
PLUS the new family!!!! The characters definitely returning for
Sally's wedding are: Pippa, Frank, Carly, Lance, Martin, Jack
Apparently the producers were surprised by the number of people
willing to come back - no one could refuse Sally's wedding!
The new family are the Sutherlands. They arrive from the city
hoping to get some peace and quiet and buy the caravan park. The
family consists of the parents, Rhys and Shelley, played by Michael
Beckley and Paula Forrest. Rhys is an ex-AFL footballer who now
manages a hamburger shop. Shelley is a social worker. They have
3 teenage daughters - 16 year old Dani (played by Tamin Sursok),
and 14 year old twins Jade (Kate Garvan) and Kirsty (Kristy Hayes).
When they first arrive one of the twins gets bitten by a spider
and has an asthma attack, and then Rhys rubs Alf up the wrong
way. Dani is not impressed at leaving her boyfriend behind in
the city.
This Tamworth that I mentioned is in NSW, Australia. It's known
as the Australian Country Music Capital, with Gina Jefferys and
so on originating from there, Its in the Northern Tableands or
Peel Valley of NSW about 5hrs from Sydney. The ghost from the
past is definitely Aunt Kate. I think she is from Ailsa jail days
as she says 'been a very long time' to Ailsa or something along
those lines.
can anyone be sure who's returning for Sally's wedding? All
along, I thought it was: PIPPA (Debra Lawrence), FLOSS, STEVEN,
CARLY, MARTIN and LANCE (again). and then they say it's FRANK
(which is very possible considering his role on Blue Heelers)
and JACK. Remember I said about 7 months ago that Celia and Martin
was returning and then I said Frank might be, I was speaking to
someone @ [7] and they wouldn't know for sure that long ago. Are
they ALL coming back JUST for SALLY'S WEDDING? and whoever confirmed
that Alex Papps was returning, it sounded as if he was returning
as a permanent character (like Colleen did). Third, this must
be a record! How many characters have left this year (2000)? So
far: Jesse, James, Justine, Natalie, Rachel, Tom, Sam. If it's
true about Edward and Peta leaving by the end of the year, this
could be 9! That must be a record. Vinnie, Sally, Alf, Ailsa,
Donald, Kieran, Irene, Ken, Hayley, Will and Nick all must stay
for a while.
Yes, I know What you mean. I live in Belgium and it's the same
here. I never knew there were cliff-hangers either because they're
shown in the middle of the week and the new series start the next
day.
Yeah I thought that as well I wasn't sure though. How long was
Ailsa in jail does anyone know? Also another think that made me
think they might have been in jail together was that Kate was
pretty drunk that night I thought that would probably be What
got her in trouble?? I don't know...
it's really hard for someone like me to comment on cliff-hangers,
as I only recently moved to Australia. Before, when I was living
in England we didn't even know when the cliff-hangers were on
because the episode would be shown on a Friday, with the new series
the following Monday. In fact the 1998 one, with the thing with
gypsy being kidnapped was the first one I ever saw, that I knew
was a cliff hanger
I only vaguely remember that one, but it was good. My fave would
probably be the 1995 one with Shane and the accident. At least
it kept us in suspense. 1997 was definitely the most boring. I
think from 1996 onwards, the cliff-hangers have been way too predictable.
No, the ghost from the past is Shauna's Aunt Kate, I don't know
this for sure but my gut feeling is maybe they were in jail together
What do you reckon?
Maybe it is bobby? she has met bobby as a ghost once before...
Yes, /I/ want to know too.....I used to live near Tamworth, England.
To Tamworth!? As in the Tamworth in the Midlands?
I loved the 1992 cliff-hanger as well. I also liked the 1995
cliff-hanger where Shane had that accident on his motorbike. My
least favourite cliff-hanger was the 1997 cliff-hanger because
nothing exciting happened. It was just Travis and Rebecca getting
married on the beach.
Does anybody know who wants Irene dead? I know when she first
arrived in Summer Bay she wasn't too popular because she was a
drunk. Do you think it is a character we have actually seen on
Home and Away or is it someone Irene knows before she arrived
in Summer Bay? Is Celia coming back for Sally's wedding. She was
only in the show for a week. It seems that the writers are trying
to bring all the old characters back for small stints (e.g. Lance,
Greg, Adam, etc).
Who is this ghost from the past that Ailsa is meant to be meeting?
And also, doesn't Shauna's Aunt look very much like the same woman
("Loony" Laura) who coached Damien Roberts to run?
Is it the same person or just a look a like. I've noticed over
the years some actors come back and play another part. Jeff Truman
played the part of Sam Barlow, and years later he played the father
of Tug's girlfriend Sarah (that was her name wasn't it?). He has
also been involved in script writing.
Did anyone read about the dead body and Irene's stalker......what
do you reckon this is all about??? I read this in 'Soap World'
magazine
"A Gruesome Discovery"
Hayley and Mitch are out walking on the beach when they stumble
across a discovery that will change their young lives for ever.
As they walk past a storm water drain, they see a human hand poking
out of it. They are both thrown into shock - surely a dead body
can't have turned up in Summer Bay?
"A Stalker"
As Irene walks home, she spots a car heading her way, and naturally,
doesn't think anything of it. But then it appears to deliberately
try and run her down. Now Irene knows for sure that someone is
stalking her with a dangerous vendetta. Clothes going missing
from her clothes line is one thing, a hit and run attempt is another.
Her suspicions are confirmed when she discovers the brakes on
her car have been tampered with. Then she finds graffiti on her
walls. Irene goes to Joel and he begins an investigation. But
What he really needs to know is, who might want Irene dead......?
Alex Papps is definitely coming back, read this quote from yesterdays
Daily Telegraph: "Alex Papps, the pioneering hunk of Home
and Away, will return to the show in June. After Leaving the soap,
Papps attended drama school in WA and since graduating has been
working in a Melbourne veterinary clinic' So there you have it.
My Fav was when Chloe was in the bush with her BF brad and she
found out he was her stalker. And then he got caught in the animal
trap. I don't know why, but I always liked that one!
Is the explosion at the surf club really going to happen. Somebody
said it was an April Fool's joke and other people say that the
scripts for it have already been written. So I am confused. If
anyone can prove this either way I'd appreciate it. On the subject
of cliff-hangers, What is everyone's favourite end of year cliff-hanger
on Home and Away. (and What is your least favourite). I loved
the 1992 finale when Finlay was trapped underwater with only minutes
of oxygen left. Sophie was about to sign away custody of her baby
and Shane was found guilty and taken to jail. I don't think there
has been a finale that good since. Maybe you disagree? By the
way, I didn't like last year's finale. It was too obvious What
was going to happen. There is no way that Joel would shoot Jesse.
That would be murder. Jesse was unarmed and was no threat to Joel
whatsoever.
Did anyone watch Blue Heelers on Wednesday? Because Alex Papps
(ex-Frank Morgan off Home and Away) was in it. It was good to
see him over 10 years later. I thought it was him all through
it and @ the end, he was in the credits. @ least we know that
he's capable off coming back. and do you think that his role on
Blue Heelers would be classified as a 'Guest role'? or is it the
only acting work he can get. It would be great if he Did come
back, even for Sally's wedding, but I don't think he does. Also,
Did you notice on Thursday's (today's) episode that Sam's surfing
friend was that guy that played Dennis off Heartbreak High. His
name's Putu Winchester or something. One would wonder if Blue
Heelers has enough roles for former Home and Away/Neighbours stars.
There has been heaps! Can anyone make up a list?
yes, when Alf (ray meagher) came to the mother's day luncheon
in Tamworth, he was on the news that night saying there's a new
family coming to the bay, and they are very nice, he might have
said more but the news didn't show it.
Yes a family of five is definitely coming, they had the casting
this week
Well, I don't know if anyone noticed, but Monday night's episode
was written by Felicity Packard. She is my tutor at uni, and I
had her class first thing this morning. Her and I had a good chat
about the episode, and she said two of her scenes were cut, because
the episode was a bit long, so she wasn't too happy about that.
The scenes were one with Tom and Gypsy, when Gypsy went over to
Sally's and was reintroduced to Kieran. She went into the lounge
room to talk to Tom, but we never saw the conversation. So they
really were going to have a conversation, about Gilly and him
not wanting to talk about it. The other missing scene was meant
to be after Joel arrived at Tom's with the beers. There was meant
to be a scene with them sitting around drinking the beers and
talking, but not really talking, like Gypsy said the next morning.
So they sort of cut some stuff that would have been helpful in
motivating Tom's decision to leave, I thought. Also, last week
I know that the writers plotted out the first two episodes for
next year, which Felicity is going to write. So they have now
definitely planned What the season finale will be!
Also I think home and away has been really negative, with people
leaving etc..). I have never felt so sad in my life ! and there
is more sadness to come :( . I also didn't like the way the script
writers just made the characters leave just out of the blue. Like
Tom left with 5mins notice. I also heard that another family of
five will be arriving in the bay soon but I am yet to confirm
this.
